Attic Archaeology — Lucy Ives

With a sigh like a draft in a haunted house,
The chest cavity spilled its garlands
Of antique incense and velvet rot.

Savoring the cinnamon taste
Of old silk and flesh become dust,
I grasped the dried rose of a dead heart.
