The Poet— By Katrina R. Lippolis

My poetry is dying

Plans have been made for its burial

The hole has been dug

Six feet deep in the lyrical rhyme

Flatline

Time has run its course

Breathed its last --

Flowing until the end

Roots planted, growth has begun

Tombstone read:

Once poetry that spit fire

Reaching every hearts desire

Now, has met its demise

Words of magic

Casting a spell on few

The time had come,

to pay its dues

R.I.P.

To the poet in me

AUTHOR’S BIO

At age 19, Katrina R. Lippolis began her poetry journey. While working as a housekeeper at a local hospital, Katrina purchased a cloth-bound journal to which she used to insert her poems. Family and friends raved about her writing talent, with a few asking for poems of their own to have as keepsakes or to help with writing assignments for college classes.

Storing her poetry cap away four years later, she didn't write again until 34 when she was self introduced to a kpop group BTS. After discovering BTS fiction written by their fans, she, too, fell into the rabbit hole of BTS fanfics producing over 30 short stories of her own, sharing them on the BTS ARMY amino (ARMY is the BTS fandom).

Katrina eventually retired fanfics and soon returned to her first love of poetry after joining the writing community on Twitter. Since then, she has written 200+ poems and self-published three books of poetry (The Way We Fall: Love Amid the Thistles, The Moon is Ours: Dance Among the Stars & Despair Spare Me Not) between June - October 2020. The next book, her first adult fiction novel, COFFEE, will be released in Jan 2021.
